"In the past murals I would always use my own wages from my part time job(Bread and butter) to feed the people. I find that taking a 30 minute lunch break during the painting stimulates so much positive and productive conversation that it gives complete strangers a chance to get to know each other and share stories, in our case this gives children a chance to see local authorities, police officers, businessmen (People in suits etc) a chance to see they are empathetic and real people just like the rest of us. Some kids will identify similarities between both worlds. This targets a lot of the social issues we are faced with living in South Auckland."
